For anyone not familiar with Gleick's works, I also strongly recommend his earlier books, Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman, about the Nobel Prize-winning physicist, and Chaos: Making a New Science. I've been told that Chaos: Making a New Science is a good book about chaos theory but I haven't read it myself (although I'd like to). Had become the cornerstone of a “new science,” and scientists and mathematicians across disciplines had latched onto the central themes of Turing's paper to develop the legitimate sciences of chaos and emergence.
